For Immediate Release: Friday, January 18, 2008

Saskatoon – The Saskatoon AAA Midget Contacts will play Special Olympics Saskatchewan - Saskatoon Stingers in an exhibition Floor Hockey game on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:00pm, Tommy Douglas Collegiate, Saskatoon.

This year, the Contacts choose Special Olympics as their charity of choice to support and will provide the Stingers with a cheque at a Contacts league game in February.

“We asked the team who they wanted to support this year and they choose Special Olympics.” Says Ken Wasden, Saskatoon Contacts. “We know Special Olympics athletes are competitive and we thought having a game is more engaging than just passing a cheque over. It teaches our players community involvement that is worthy and fun.”

Ken Snell, Coach of the Stingers, is excited for his team to compete with some of Saskatoon’s best hockey players. “Allowing Special Olympics athletes to be challenged by such kids from the Triple A hockey league, increases their skills and makes them better players”. “We all love the game,” Snell added.

Miss Saskatchewan, Nina Gueguen, will be on hand to drop the puck and cheer on both teams.
